Our Dentists Dr Michael Evans and Dr Rafael Maia, with their team, offer personal care and comprehensive treatments for every patient.

An experienced hygienist, Jacqui Byrnes, along with friendly, caring receptionists, highly qualified dental nurses and a dedicated team to sterilize and maintain equipment, complement their work. Patient safety and comfort is always a top priority for the King Street Dental team.

King Street Dental Practice caters for all age groups (including Veterans and Seniors) where patients from all funds can claim their rebates through HICAPS on the day of treatment.

About Our Doctors:

Dr. Rafael Maia

Dr. Rafael Maia

Dr Maia graduated in Brazil in 2002. He was influenced by his father and his aunt, both of whom are very talented dentists. After working a few years in Brazil with his family he decided to move to Australia in 2007 with his wife Milena and has been working in the Tweed Valley since 2008.
His professional interests lie in cosmetic dentistry, orthodontics and root canal therapy. He approaches every treatment with a gentle and caring nature.

Dr Maia has 2 young sons (Dylan and Oliver) and in his free time he enjoys spending time with his family and surfing.

After graduating from the University of Queensland, Michael worked in Northern Queensland for several years, before then moving to the United Kingdom and working for a private practice in Bristol. On returning to Australia, Michael and his wife, Jan, settled in Murwillumbah where their four children were all born. In 1987, Michael set up King Street Dental Practice.

Sport has always been an integral part of family life with many good friendships being developed while playing and coaching soccer and being involved with running.
Over the many years in Murwillumbah, Michael has also developed many close friends with long term patients as well as his staff.

Michael treats his patients with respect and gives them time; he is gentle and believes in quality care. Michael treats patients in all areas of dentistry, undertakes regular participation in further education and enjoys meeting and treating new patients.
