We are often asked why we are not preferred provider with private health insurance companies.
‘Preferred provider’ may sounds as though the dentists who belong to the scheme have been selected for their skills or clinical standards – this is not true. In fact any dentist can become a “Preferred Provider” by signing a contract with a Private Health Fund and agree to abide to their terms which usually involves working to a fee schedule and any associated constraints determined by that insurance company. There is no consideration for the dentist’s skills, experience, quality , infection control standards, etc… The Private Health Insurance Companies are not concerned about the quality of the service you are provided.
At King Street Dental Practice, we endeavor to provide our patients with the highest level of care and safety. Our equipment undergo regular servicing. Our dentists and staff are highly experienced and attend regularly seminar and courses to ensure their knowledge is up to date. Infection control procedures are strictly followed by our staff and dedicated sterilising station nurse.
We strongly hold the opinion that health care should be controlled by the patient’s need and expectations and that financials institutions should not dictate the quality, amount and type of care provided. Providing our patients with high standards and excellence of care they deserve comes at a cost so we made the conscious decision to not join the Private Health Insurances “Preferred Provider” scheme.
Although we are not part of the “Preferred Providers” scheme, you still will get your benefits(rebate) from your health insurance provider if you see us for treatment. We have a HICAPS machine to allow members of participating funds the convenience of automatic claims processing.
